COVID’S SPATIAL PANDEMIC

Covid19 has profoundly transformed cities faster than any expert or planning authority could have anticipated. Not only did the pandemic instantly impact health and safety of our streets & public spaces, but the toll it took on our urban infrastructure and social structure is unprecedented.

Earlier this month I spoke with the head of the SmartCity Ukraine Yuri Nazarov where we  discussed different ways urban planners can respond to these immediate threats to our built environment:

  • The importance of radical experimentation,

  • The vital roles of living labs and urban sand boxes

  • And distinctions between “citizen centric” versus “privacy by design” principles.

In this 30 min presentation we dive into many of the ‘Responsible Urban Technologies’ we are developing with future city makers.
