Measuring Street Tranformation

Throughout 2023, the City of Amsterdam conducted several experiments around car free zones and slowing cars down from 50km/h to 30km/h inside the city.

The GreenMile is transforming its busy Stadhouderskade from one of the most polluted and unhealthy street to a sustainably green, beautiful, clean and inclusive street in Amsterdam. More info on GreenMile here:

Tapp - Smart City Architecture was asked to do a ‘nulmeting’ - or benchmark to measure the environmental data before, during and after each street transformation.

Using a environmental sensor we can accurately measure key indicators like Sound Levels, CO2, Air Quality Index (AQI), Particles and more. This ‘car free or slow zone’ data can be shared on a public dashboard to show the before and after effects. Both the sensor and dashboard can generate not only more awareness and support for the GreenMile initiative, but also foster much stronger relationships with the public to the spaces along the Stadhouderskade.

As smart city architect Tapp works with local teams to design, test citizen centric solutions to provide key insights to improve our living environment.
